Del Sol this week opened its newest store in Melbourne, Australia near the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel. The new store is approximately 800 square feet and is the only retail store in Melbourne selling exclusively clothing and accessories that change color with sunlight.
Del Sol has continued to expand its international and domestic presence for the past 20 years now with more than 100 store locations in 24 countries. Del Sol stores are found in Mexico, Grand Cayman, Jamaica, Barbados, Canada, Aruba, Mauritius, Brazil, Curacao, Turkey, Spain, France, Honduras, St. Maarten, Bahamas, Antigua, Bonaire and various cities throughout the continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii and the Caribbean.
Additional Del Sol store openings are planned in 2014 in Washington D.C., St. John’s Canada, Duban City, South Africa, Calgary, Alberta, Brisbane, Australia and many more. The majority of these independently owned stores will be operated by licensed, contracted partners of Del Sol, L.C.
New store owners, Shaun and Teresa McIlDuff, who originally saw Del Sol while cruising on the Carnival Liberty in San Juan five years ago, were captivated by Del Sol’s color-changing Solize sunglasses that the cruise ship port lecturers talked about. As soon as they saw the Del Sol store, they knew that this was their dream to open and own their own Del Sol store in Australia.
What followed next were four years of location and lease negotiations, along with unavoidable delays while the shopping location underwent major repairs and re-development — all of which could have discouraged the McIlDuffs. However, their enthusiasm never wavered and they were finally rewarded with the opening of their beautiful new Del Sol store in Harbor Town, right at the base of the famous Melbourne Star – a 120-meter high giant Ferris wheel located in the Docklands of Melbourne.
Congratulations and welcome to the new Del Sol Melbourne store! Every been to Melbourne? What’s a must-see attraction for visitors? Let us know in the comments.
