Creek Street.
Creek Street is a short walk from the cruise ships and from downtown Ketchikan. Get your shop on at some of the most quaint stores with the friendliest employees.
Don’t forget to ask them about the history of Creek Street! Take your sights below the dock during the salmon run, and you’ll see hundreds of local salmon making their annual salmon run journey.
Deer Mountain Hike.
Such a beautiful hike that provides several lookouts along the way up. Try to plan this hike on a clearer day because clouds can obscure the magnificent views.
Deer Mountain Trailhead is about 10 minutes from downtown Ketchikan and is easy to get to. Be careful not to go at night as many bears are seen in that area. Take your bear spray!
Perseverance Trail at Ward Lake. Take your hammock and relax on this leisurely hike. It’s simply breathtaking so take your time and relax.
Misty Fjords.
This is a day trip that’s done by seaplane or by boat. Taquan Air is a great company to go through. Get a panoramic view of Ketchikan via seaplane, an experience you’ll never forget.
Misty Fjords is about 40 miles east of Ketchikan along the Inside Passage consisting of 2.3 million acres of national forest. Be sure your camera is charged!
Herring Cove.
A bit of a drive to the southern point of Ketchikan, but well worth it, this cove is home to an array of wildlife – from salmon and eagles to bears and deer – you’ll see it all in Herring Cove.
There’s an elevated walking bridge that provides you with the ability to take in the wildlife without any worry of being maimed or eaten.
