Before your next visit or first visit to San Francisco, know where and how to have fun in the sun while you’re there. That’s what these tips are all about, and they’re brought to you by our local Del Sol staff and interns who live and work in the heart of San Francisco every day.
We don’t just love San Francisco because we have a store there. It’s much more than that. For us, it’s a daily feast of eclectic colors and singular architecture all tightly nestled against a foggy, mystical bay over-arched by a Golden “burnt red” Gate Bridge.
Before you get started, know that the friendly Del Sol Pier 39 staff is happy to assist you with questions or tips during your stay. Feel free to stop by the store and take a load off. It’s located at the end of Pier 39 (Embarcadero Street) next to the Sea Lion Cafe and the giant carousel.
Top 5 Fun in the Sun Things to Do in San Francisco:
1. Eat a basket of garlic fries at a San Francisco Giants baseball game. Seats are relatively affordable, ranging from $11 to $90+. Sitting in the bleacher section can be rowdy and fun. Don’t forget to bring a jacket. It gets chilly evenings in the fall and summer.
2. Visit Chinatown and eat something authentic and new. It’s the largest Chinatown outside of Asia. At least that’s what they say. You can find some great souvenirs and tasty Chinese cuisine.
3. Ride the San Francisco Cable Cars. See the hot spots and landscape of San Francisco from the famous cable cars. Only $5.00 round trip. Begins at Powell Market and stops by scenic Nob and Russian Hill and finishes at Aquatic Park near Ghiradelli Square.
4. Drive across the Golden Gate Bridge. Then, stay a while in Sausalito on the other side. There’s a small fee (under $10) to cross the bridge, which you pay on the way back. Don’t forget to bring some extra cash. The fog usually rolls in during the late afternoon/early evening. Just a typical day in San Francisco.
5. Hang out, Shop and Eat at Pier 39 and Fisherman’s Wharf. See the sea lions at the end of Pier 39 right by the carousel. There are so many shops and restaurants that you could spend the entire day on the pier, so choose wisely. Be sure to visit the Del Sol store. Great fish tacos, excellent clam chowder, fresh fruit, etc. Wipeout Bar & Grill is good and so is the Crab House.
