Gift Guide for Putting a Spin on Valentine’s Day

When you’re a kid, Valentine’s Day is one of the best in-school holidays of the year. Most of us loved giving out Valentine’s Day cards with big red hearts to all our friends and classmates who brought a smile to our hearts. You’d give them to your parents, teachers, favorite friends, classmates, and even the mailman.
Back then, Valentine’s Day was fun, and it was an excuse to tell the people who make you happy how much they mean to you. Romance has nothing to do with it when you’re 10 years old.
We want to re-shape V-Day, so we can experience it like we used to. Let’s put a spin on Valentine’s Day and make it fun for everyone. Here’s how we’re going to do it:
Valentine’s Cards
Go for it! Buy a pack of Valentine’s Day cards and give them to anybody and everybody you want. These cards are in most grocery stores beginning in January. Can’t miss ’em.
Valentine’s Gift
And, if you’re really feeling jazzed, treat someone special to a gift.
How about surprising with a small token of your affection, such as your best girlfriend who keeps your secrets, the sister/brother you were so mean to as kids but who grew up to love you anyway, your mom/dad who’s always there for you, the cousin you grew up with, the niece who will take care of you when you’re old, the co-worker who sits next to you and pretends not to overhear your phone calls, your neighbor, mentor/mentee…anybody who makes you smile.
Valentine’s Day is about thoughtful kindness and caring. It’s a day that gives you permission to share your feelings of love and gratitude, which we need to do more of on a regular basis anyway.
